HOW I RETRAINED TO SECURE A BETTER CAREER

Hello and welcome!

This is my first official post, so I guess I need to introduce myself properly.

I’m Julia, founder of Grace Social. I’m a mum of two, tea drinker and lover of sewing. I am also a Social Media Marketer and Facebook Ad strategist.

Digital marketing and social media will obviously be the main focus around here, but prepare yourself because I want you to get to know me too, the face behind Grace Social.

How did get I here? Honestly, I did the classic thing in my twenties of falling into a job and staying there for a lot longer than I should have,

Call it security, call it lack of vision, I’m not sure I can truthfully answer that but I do know that I stayed too long.

Whilst I was still there I fell pregnant with my first child, my daughter, and honestly staying in that post with children was an easy decision as they offered me reduced hours and flexibility. Fast forward a few years later and another baby later and I was still there!

A few years ago, when my children were old enough, I decided to focus on myself, really think about I wanted to achieve and set some goals.

After such a long time in a customer facing role, I knew I wanted to stay helping people, but with the focus on helping businesses.

In 2018 I signed up to Digital Mums and retrained as a Social Media Manager, enabling me to build a business and work from home.

I love learning and I’m always listening to marketing or business podcasts or keeping up to date with social media or digital updates or trends. I soon realised that I was really passionate about all things digital and wanted to keep soaking up knowledge!

I enrolled earlier this year, just prior to lockdown on Emma Van Heusen’s 12 week, intensive Facebook Ad’s course. Studying through lockdown was a challenge, but It was the best thing I ever did for my business and growth.

So here I am, It’s been a journey and I am really happy I decided to make myself and my future a priority.

I am so proud that I now serve businesses with my digital marketing and Ad knowledge, helping them grow, which is everything I’ve wanted. The fact that I am working for myself and actually run my own business is just the cherry on top!

Some of my favourite Podcasts to listen to, which help me get motivated are Teresa Heath-Wareing Marketing that Converts and Carrie Green She Means Business. I would definitely recommend giving them a listen if your a business owner and don’t listen to them already.

There you go, that’s my story and my first official blog!

I really hope you enjoyed reading a bit more about the face behind the name here at Grace Social. As always, my goal is to help others through marketing, so please do get in touch if you think I can help you or need some advice.

Speak soon,

Julia
